Tofurky Meets The Shannons Contest!

Cajun Deep Fried Tofurky with Okra Giblet Gravy

It's no secret that we love Tofurky! We love the deli slices for lunch in sandwiches and salads. We love the roasts with Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. We love the leftovers cut up into chunks in pot pies. I mean what's not to love about this vegan classic that has become a Thanksgiving tradition all over the world? Not only is it a compassionate alternative to eating sweet birds like Beatrice at Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary and Skip and Victoria at Farm Sanctuary but Tofurkys are prefect for whatever creative cooking ideas you want to experiment with during the holiday season.

We've deep fried them Cajun style after injecting them with a spicy marinade all Paula Deen Style and served them with okra giblet gravy. We've roasted them over an over flame and a can of beer. Yes, we are talking about the infamous beer can Tofurky. We've wrapped it in vegan bacon and brushed it with sea salt and black pepper. We're glazed it with orange and miso and partnered it with Asian vegetable stuffing. Tomorrow we're posting a recipe for a Tofurky roasted in Dark Beer and Rosemary. Today we're launching our Tofurky Contest!

I won't make you wait any longer. Here's the contest! Leave a comment below telling us what Vegan Thanksgiving tradition or dish you're the most looking forward to and we'll randomly choose ONE Comment from a Member to win a coupon for ONE FREE TOFURKY FEAST! That includes:
  • One Tofurky® Roast (made with organic non-genetically engineered soybeans) - now 20% larger
  • Savory Giblet Gravy
  • Wild Rice, Whole Wheat Bread Crumb Stuffing
  • Tofurky® Jurky Wishstix
  • Organic Chocolate Cake from Amy's Kitchen
  • Happy Tofurky Day card & coupons
We're choosing randomly so you can be as honest as you want. In other words, we won't judge if your favorite Thanksgiving tradition is football with pizza veggie dogs or surfing and smores. Sorry folks you have to live in the United States to win. You also have to be a member so we can contact you later to send you your feast! If you're not already a member, you can find the button to join in the right hand column. We'll be choosing the winner on Friday November 11th.

So who wants to win a FREE Tofurky Feast?!?!?

  2. My favorite tradition is walking a 5K (Berbee Derby) in the morning before going home and finishing fixing the Thanksgiving feast. My favorite dish? Tofurky. And pecan crusted sweet potatoes.

  3. I can't wait for my mom's homemade vegan stuffing and biscuits made from scratch. She is the best cook ever and I am so lucky to have her as my veggie partner in crime and mom!

  4. My own vegan stuffing! I would love to post the recipe but can't figure out how to!

  8. Ummm, I want a Tofurky feast!! I've actually never had a Tofurky (been vegan 6 years). I look forward to my delicious Brussels sprouts (LOVE them) and my mom's amazing cranberry sauce (I think the secret ingredient is orange juice and zest). Bring on Thanksgiving!!

    ReplyDelete
  9. I LOVE making sweet potato casserole. Everyone always enjoys it and never believes it is vegan. Plus I always love me some Tofurky.

    ReplyDelete
  10. It's so hard to choose ONE favorite with so MANY vegan feast dishes! I'd say probably the Mashed Potato/Stuffing/Tofurkey sandwiches we make with the leftovers! Yum! :)

    ReplyDelete
  11. Vegan Pumpkin Cheesecake from scratch (no canned pumpkin). It's creamy, velvety and delicious!

    ReplyDelete
  12. this is my first vegan thanksgiving, but i'll be making a tofurky with my famous apple, butternut squash, red onion and potato cinnamon side dish ( ok maybe only famous to me and my family lol), with some vegan sausage cornvread stuffing and for dessert home made mini vegan apple cinnamon pies with some soy whip and tofutti vanilla icecream and maybe some of my amazing vegan chocolate peanutbutter cupcakes

  13. I'm looking forward to cooking a Thanksgiving feast, even if the only people eating it this year will be me and my husband! Quinoa/lentil cutlets, mushroom gravy, mashed root veggies, cran-apple sauce (which we loving refer to as 'crapplesauce'), homemade bread, and, of course, a vegan pumpkin pie. I love having an excuse to cook an exorbitant amount of food!

    ReplyDelete
  14. vegan mincemeat pie and cornbread stuffing!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I'm most excited for Tofurky! When Tofurky first came out, it changed the Thanksgiving game for me and my family. I'm proud to be a veg, and that will never change. What will also never change is the gratitude for a delicious product that allows us to have a beautiful, traditional holiday.

  16. I plan on making your beer can Tofurky for Thanksgiving this year!! God, I love Tofurky. I've tried the homemade seitan "turkeys," but they're never as good as the real thing.

As for traditions, I look forward every year to my mama's famous dressin'. Every year since 1994, she's been making me a small vegetarian (and now vegan) casserole dish of dressin' to accompany the meaty version the rest of the fam eats. It's pretty cool having a whole casserole dish to myself since I kinda hate sharing.

  17. Looking forward to our first Thanksgiving celebration with Tofurkys! It will be our first vegan family get together, even though there are still a few non-vegans, but we are making progress!

  18. Thanksgiving is definitely my favorite holiday solely because of the food. Last year I brought a creamy cashew pumpkin dip that was great as well as a sweet potato casserole and pumpkin brownie cupcakes, but I think what seals the deal as my favorite would be cornbread stuffing. We also did stuffed mushrooms as an entree but Tofurky would be a welcome replacement!

    ReplyDelete
  19. My favorite part of Thanksgiving is planning the menu with my Mom. I come from a long line of carnivores, so I get to make the vegan entree (which has been the Thanksgiving potpie from Vegetarian Times for a few years now--delish!), and I get to make 3-5 sides. My pear applesauce is by far and away the dish that I'm most often asked to bring. It's just a wonderful combination of flavors of the season…and it bridges all diets. I also make unbelievable red lentils with caramelized onion, tomatoes, balsamic & brown sugar. This year I'm also making some new recipes including pumpkin cheesecake and sweet potato muffins.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Green bean casserole with a buttload of crispy onion things.
    Gimmie!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Looking forward to seeing family and making an awesome vegan thanksgiving

    ReplyDelete
  22. My favorite part of Thanksgiving is the Pumpkin Pie! I feel so lucky that vegan pumpkin pie is just as delicious (if not more so) than the original animal fat-laden version. I consider this pie to be so crucial to a great Thanksgiving feast that I will not even allow myself to have any pumpkin pie before Thanksgiving Day, after which I gobble up slice after slice.

    ReplyDelete
  23. this will be my first thanksgiving as a Vegan, so i'm a little nervous. what i really, really want... is some Apple Pie, or some kind of ridiculously fattening chocolate cake. i recently made a really awesome Vegan Sweet Potato Casserole, that is absolutely on the menu. :D

    ReplyDelete
  24. Tofurky Roast, mashed sweet potatoes, mashed white potatoes and gravy, vegan pumpkin pie and hot cocoa :-)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Pumpkin cheesecake from fat free vegan!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I still have yet to try one of those Tofurkey's. Every year I "chicken" out and don't get anything. Since I am usually alone for the holidays I tend to make Top Ramen with frozen veggies and have some cranberry sauce for dessert.

I probably look forward to the cranberry sauce the most. Sure I can eat it all year long but I usually don't. It just feels right to eat it this time of year...

    ReplyDelete
  27. Think I'm gonna make vegan stuffing balls this year, and my pumpkin pie (vegan, of course) with ginger snap cookie crust!

OH how I would love to win this feast to cut down on the rest of my work!! :-)

    XO

    ReplyDelete
  28. Pumpkin cheesecake. I have been making the same recipe every year since I went vegan and I can't wait to make it again!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Veganomicon's Pumpkin Baked Ziti with Caramelized Onions and Sage Crumb Topping. It's been our staple for family Thanksgiving Dinners for several years. Even the non-converted turkey-lovers in the family love this one!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Bringing our own food to my mother-in-law's house! :D

    ReplyDelete
  31. Oh, man. For me it's gotta be my Grandma's home-canned green beans combined with her creamy, peppery mashed potatoes. For sure.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Bringing a picture of our adopted farm sanctuary turkey and vegan dish to the meat eating crowd.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Can't wait to have me some day-after-sammiches. And of course you can't set the table without some roasted pumpkin and squash seeds, and vegan crescent rolls! Oh Thanksgiving, you are my favorite holiday. :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Most people think mashed potatoes is exclusively a side dish. I could argue that it's good enough to be a main dish. So my vote if for good old fashion Tofurkey and mashed potatoes!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Every year, I make my famous stuffing and chocolate-pumpkin pie, but more than anything, I love the spirit of gratitude and giving in the Thanksgiving tradition. This year, I'll be volunteering and feeding others, which to me, sounds infinitely better than simply eating my way through the day.

    Thank you for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  36. For Thanksgiving, I love making homemade mashed potatoes. I'm not a very good cook, but they're so easy that even I can make them delicious!

    ReplyDelete
  37. This is my first attempt at a vegan Thanksgiving, and we're planning on attempting to veganize some of our traditional recipes - green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, etc. I have been in a quandary about a main though...possibly stuffed squash or stuffed mushrooms?

    ReplyDelete
  38. making/eating and oh hell, drinking gravy!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy. And my sweet sister-in-law who makes her traditional sweet potato casserole vegan for me!

    ReplyDelete
  40. My favorite vegan Thanksgiving tradition is helping my mom make the vegan dressing, which I convinced her to veganize two years ago. She admits that it tastes just as good without turkey broth.

    ReplyDelete
  41. my favorite tradition is cranberries! i love 'em, especially in my favorite recipe, a sweet cranberry chutney that i served instead of canned cranberry sauce. i could eat it every day!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm looking forward to some vegan apple pie!

    ReplyDelete
  43. This is our first Thanksgiving with our daughter and it is going to be a pleasure to serve her favorite Sweet Potato circles baked with a little olive oil, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

    ReplyDelete
  44. For me it's always been stuffing! When I was young my grandmother would always make me my own batch of vegetarian stuffing and it would be the same size as the one she made for everyone else! She was the best!

    ReplyDelete
  45. My favorite tradition is sweet potato casserole! I look forward to it each year!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. This is my first year as a vegan, and I decided to try to veganize my Grandmother's Party Potatoes, which call for sour cream and cream cheese AND butter. Yep. So I used all vegan substitutes and it tasted exactly the same. Not a health dish, of course, but a wonderful tasty memory that I can continue to enjoy without hurting any one!

    ReplyDelete
  47. My favorite thing to make at Thanksgiving is tied between baked garlic-y artichokes (made with Smart Balance Light, minced garlic, and nutritional yeast) and stuffed acorn squash. My mum and I bake the squash and then stuff it with a mixture of brown rice and sauteed onions, cranberries, walnuts, and celery. It was absolutely divine.

    ReplyDelete
  48. to be completely honest, this is my first vegan thanksgiving. im actually really exited to try out all the different vegan dishes me and my vegetarian girlfriend have planned out, salad, cheesy potatoes, green beans, Field Roast Celebration Roast, sweet potato dessert. I can't wait. I've been vegan for 6 months now and I originally made the jump from being vegetarian for 2 months to finally being vegan and I LOVE IT! Hope everyone has a great thanksgiving!!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. My veganized version of my moms dish, squash casserole with carrots, onions, celery and yellow squash baked to perfection with a delicious bread crumb topping!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. This will be my first vegan Thanksgiving. I have been a vegetarian for over 5 years now, and usually just eat everything besides the turkey and stuffing. This year, I am celebrating Thanksgiving twice, both times I will be the only Vegan. It will be a little bit of a hassle, but I look forward to making my own 'mini' vegan Thanksgiving meal and getting my family members to try it :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. Ok, I'll admit I've never tried a Tofurkey feast, but I've always wanted to! The tradition I'm most looking forward to is vegan pumpkin cheesecake. My husband and in-laws request it each year- score one for veganism!

    ReplyDelete
  52. This is my first Vegan/Vegetarian Thanksgiving, but I can't be more excited! I'm looking forward to trying to make vegan scallop potatoes the most!

    ReplyDelete
  53. this is my first vegan thanksgiving as well. i'm looking forward to making some stuffing! i haven't found the recipe i wanna use yet, but i have time.
i'm also looking forward to making some pumpkin pie cheesecake. i made one last weekend and i absolutely loved it.
a non-food tradition i always look forward to is spending time with my family of course (: we stay in the poconos through thanksgiving night every year, it's always so beautiful and relaxing. and of course, i always go black friday shopping :P
i've only been vegan for a short time but i've never had tofurkey before. i'll have to try and get some before the holiday season is over...

    ReplyDelete
  54. Thanksgiving is probably the most painful holiday for me. Imagine being a vegetarian (and later, a vegan) with your birthday November 27th. Celebrated on Thanksgiving (no exceptions), with a dead turkey gracing your birthday dinner. Please - a Tofurky! I want to start a new, more compassionate November celebration!
But for now, the sweet potato casserole - to die for!
Wishing everyone (icluding me!) a compassionate, loving Thansgiving.
    Anne

  55. I'm looking forward to making my roasted root vegetable casserole and witnessing my carnivore father-in-law go for seconds and thirds and fourths of it!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. My favorite, every year, is green bean casserole, cornbread stuffing and mashed potatoes.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Mashed potatoes and mac 'n cheeze!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I used to hate Thanksgiving before I became vegan, but now I look forward to it! My favorite tradition started last year was adopting a turkey through the Farm Sanctuary's program, and I plan to do it again this year!

My favorite thanksgiving dish, which has been my favorite since before I was even vegetarian, has always been mashed potatoes....and mashed potato sandwiches the day after :)

    ReplyDelete
  59. I love Tofurky too! We've had the feast every Thanksgiving for as long as I can remember. I also love the sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes (yes, I'm a carb fan) and cranberry sauce. I made a vegan pumpkin pie last year and it was delicious. Can't wait for all the yumminess!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  62. We're going to try a thanksgiving pizza this year - gravy, mashed potatoes, carrots, tofurky slices and maybe some stuffing, all on a puffy white crust. YUM!

    ReplyDelete
  63. This is my first Thanksgiving ever alone (I don't have the money go fly home for Thanksgiving and Christmas, sadly). I'm going to try to make my family's dressing recipe this year. I haven't had it since I went vegan 5 years ago, but I think it'll help me not miss home so much!

    ReplyDelete
  64. I think this year we're making a vegan cheesecake. I cannot wait!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I love the art of a vegan Thanksgiving - it's like my own personal tradition. Roasted root vegetables next to cranberry sauce next to bright green beans next to tofurkey next to sweet potato casserole. Every year I look around at everybody else's plates and they're all white and brown and drab and mine is GORGEOUS.

    ReplyDelete
  66. o my lord all i need is spaghetti squash, tofu pumpkin pie, mashed sweet potaters, and some boca chicken patties. ♥

    ReplyDelete
  67. Stuffing! I cannot get enough stuffing at any time of the year.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I'm having Tofurkey for the first time this Thanskgiving! If it were free, that'd be even better, haha.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I have never had a vegan Thanksgiving. I am looking forward to my first one this year. I have a vegan cookbook that has tons of wonderful sounding recipes! Recipes sound so easy to make & look absolutely Yummy! The holiday is my oyster (so to speak). :-)

    ReplyDelete
  70. Yum, I love Tofurky too! I'm most looking forward to vegan pie this Thanksgiving -- I'm going to make Maple Pecan Pie and Pumpkin Cheesecake from Vegan Pie in the Sky. Can't wait!! :)

PS -- I subscribe by RSS instead of email. Hope that's okay!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Honestly, this is my first vegan Thanksgiving. Last year was vegetarian and I just kinda modified what I was making for everyone else. I'm excited to start some new traditions with my girls, modify family faves, and find delicious new recipes to make the holiday special for us.

    ReplyDelete
  72. My favorite Thanksgiving Tradition is explaining multiple times to family and friends that yes, I DO enjoy Thanksgiving; no, I don't eat turkey or any meat; and no, I can't have that because bacon grease/turkey/meat is an animal and I don't eat them. And my soon-to-be favorite Thanksgiving food will be cajun fried tofurky!

    ReplyDelete
  73. i like vegan pumpkin pie and whiskey!!

    ReplyDelete
  74. My favorite dish/tradition is making vegan mashed potatoes with my mom and "taste-testing" about half of them before they even make it off the stove :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. I'm so excited for Thanksgiving, because I haven't quite found the right "turk'y" since going vegan last year and I'm going to do a taste test of the most popular brands with my family (who's not at all vegan.)

I also am excited to have time to veganize all the classic Thanksgiving foods- pumpkin pie, green bean casserole, stuffing, sweet potatoes, and a ton of other fall goodies! Hopefully my family will want to try a few bites too!

    ReplyDelete

I am most looking forward to making, sharing, and stuffing my face with my super yummy vegan stuffing (made w/gimme lean sausage, apples, walnuts, & cranberries) and double-layer pumpkin cheesecake (from a recipe I found a couple of years ago on the fat free vegan blog (except it's not fat free & absolutely delicious!)).

  93. Mashed potatoes have always been a favorite for me, and Thanksgiving is one of the only days I allow myself to eat as many as I want. The past couple of years, I like bringing a vegan dessert to impress my dairy-loving family. And we play a super competitive game of Trivial Pursuit after dinner, so my tradition is winning.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Definitively Stuffing drizzled with cranberry sauce. Yum.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Sweet potato donuts with cranberry glaze. YUM.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  97. I am looking forward to roasted veggies ... brussel sprouts, baby carrots and pear onions. De-lish!

    ReplyDelete
  98. My favorite part is kind of obsolete, but before there were commercial vegan marshmallows available I toyed with recipes and made my own. It became tradition, and now every year I make a batch of vegan marshmallows. Some get used to top the sweet potatoes, the rest spend a few days being dispensed directly into our mouths :-)

    ReplyDelete
  99. looking forward to brussel sprouts with cranberries and walnuts

    ReplyDelete
  100. What I am most looking forward this year is just a home cooked meal from my dad since I have been away at college. I just hope he makes baked sweet potatoes sprinkled with his brown sugar cinnamon topping.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I would be having a dinner but money is tight with us so much that we probably won't be having one. My fiance's family eat nothing but meat and dairy so we can't eat there. But even if I may not be having one, I am grateful for the roof over my head, the bit of food we do have, and being able to keep warm at night. <3

    ReplyDelete
  102. WHat I am looking forward to this year for thanksgiving is being back home with my family after a term in college to get a home cooked meal by my dad. I am hoping that he will make his baked sweet potatoes with cinnamon brown sugar topping. Yummy!

    ReplyDelete
  103. sweet potato root bake with thyme & rosemary.

    ReplyDelete
  104. well ive been dreaming about your Vegan green bean casserole dish since i made it LAST thanksgiving, so im pretty sure that's number one!

also: BREAD - it doesnt matter what kind.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Such a hard choice between stuffing-n-cranberry-stuffed acorn squash and good ol' pumpkin pie! Love the crazy things you've done with the Tofurky - SO inspiring!

    ReplyDelete
  106. When I used to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family, I was relegated to eating overcooked peas. Needless to say, the Thanksgiving meal wasn't very fun for me. Now, I look forward to perfectly roasted brussel sprouts and, if I'm lucky, a creamy, definitely not vegan corn cake/pudding. I'm actually not even vegetarian anymore, so this year I might even partake in turkey, provided it has been grown humanely.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I look forward to my food coma nap!

    ReplyDelete
  108. I am so excited about mashed potatoes and gravy, because it has been the only dish I've had seconds on since i was a child. It really is a weakness.

I follow as Joey Willette, and email is joeywillette @ gmail com.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

    ReplyDelete
  109. I'm most looking forward to the quinoa mushroom loaf that I'm making!!

    ReplyDelete
  110. Cranberry & walnut sauce, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, pumpkin pie...I could go on and on. What Thanksgiving food don't I like? :)

    ReplyDelete
  111. Green bean casserole, definitely!

    ReplyDelete
  112. This will be my first vegan Thanksgiving and while I will be making and revising some old recipes such as mashed sweet potatoes and stuffing, I was genuinely considering trying the Tofurkey turkey breast so as not to feel left out while everyone else is chowing down on the real thing. The coupon would be greatly appreciated.

    ReplyDelete
  113. I was raised as a vegetarian, so a lot of thanksgivings involved pasta. As an adult vegan, I have so much fun with Thanksgiving. Mushroom gravy & mashed potatoes w/ fresh rosemary and a pea topping; stuffed oranges with sweet potatoes; stuffing with onions and celery; homemade cashew nutloafs, lentil loafs, or the big tofurkey box. Last year, we tried vegetarian plus' half chicken; cranberries; pumpkin pie... It's a great time to be mellow and to ruminate on how lucky we are to be fed so well and so compassionately.

    ReplyDelete
  114. This is my first year as a vegan so I'm looking forward to making the traditional dishes (mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole) vegan and then having the fun of telling my teenage boys that the food they just loved was "some of that weird stuff that Mom eats."

    ReplyDelete
  115. I am most looking forward to SWEET POTATO CASSEROLE- and not the healthy version either...this is pretty much a pecan pie sweet potato combo that tastes like candy!

    ReplyDelete
  116. My Red-Skin Garlic Mashers are to die and I can't wait to eat them with my heavenly Wild Mushroom Gravy......mmmmmm!!!! Seriously I could just eat this all day :-)))

    ReplyDelete
  117. We always have mashed potatoes, so full of garlic that vampires within a 20-mile radius drop dead!

    ReplyDelete
  118. I have always looked forward to my Mom's sage and sausage stuffing! Since becoming a vegetarian years back I have changed up the recipe some, but it still tastes as good!

    ReplyDelete
  119. Not gonna lie. The Tofurky is always our favorite part of the meal. We typically cook two for our family to ensure leftovers, and we still end up cooking another 1-2 a couple of days later to go with all the leftover side dishes. My wife and I have been veg for 20 years, and our kids—14, 10, and 5—know this as the only sort of Thanksgiving there is. Shoot, we often repeat the same routine over Christmas, too...

    ReplyDelete
  120. My favorite Thanksgiving tradition/food is this sweet potato casserole recipe that's from Fat Free Kitchen, it's so good that last year my family asked me to make it for Thanksgiving AND Christmas!

    ReplyDelete
  121. Definitely has to be vegan pecan pie! So excited to cook my first tofurky this Thanksgiving.

    ReplyDelete
  122. My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is watching the Lions play and sneaking tastes of whatever's cooking in the kitchen! I'm excited to try the vegan pecan pie from Vegan Pie In The Sky, too!

    ReplyDelete
  123. This will be my first plant-based Thanksgiving so I'm really excited to attempt to prepare some delicious vegan dishes for my family. I'm especially excited about vegan dressing and pumpkin pie!

    ReplyDelete
  124. Tofurkey is ALWAYS my favorite part, even though it brings a lot of comments from the peanut gallery.

    ReplyDelete
  125. I'd be happy with a bucket of gravy :) Pumpkin "cheese"cake and citrus cranberry relish are also favorites.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Two words: Mashed Potatoes! Nuff said. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  127. My favorite part of Thanksgiving was always the stuffing... mom always called it "dressing" which provided a lot of comical confusion... As an adult, I always made a batch of it just for me - and would eat it at every meal until I could possibly stand it no longer... or, more likely... until it ran out.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I've really come to love Tofurky for the holidays and over the years I get to eat less and less of it because others are grabbing for it too!

  130. I look forward to spending Thanksgiving with my boyfriend's family and spending all day cooking delicious vegan dishes with his sister-in-law/my good friend! I enjoy pretty much everything we cook, but my faves are yummy vegan green bean casserole and the simple dish of turnips and carrots!! YUM!

  131. All of my mom's traditional Thanksgiving foods but veganized! Especially her green beans with bread crumb topping. Most delicious day of the year :)

  132. Ahhh I hope I am not too late! Anyways, my favorite thanksgiving tradition is eating pumpkin pie while watching holiday movies with my family.

  133. I'm excited to show my family that Thanksgiving can be great with plat-based food. My favorite is anything with sweet potatoes (and sandwiches from the leftovers).

  135. We always have a big family thanksgiving, but in Alberta hardly anyone is vegetarian or vegan. I decided to make a vegan quinoa salad with grilled yams. Without saying anything about my dish (or that I even made it). and just quickly and quietly put it down with the rest of the dishes on the table, many were not vegan friendly. I was surprised, and delighted to see it was the 2nd most popular dish and it was totally finished before the evening was done!

  136. I won't lie, my favorite Thanksgiving tradition is going shopping with my mom at the crack of dawn (even though I never buy anything).

  137. Celebrating Thanksgiving with people I love is the best part of Thanksgiving. I also enjoy bringing delicious vegan entrees to share. :)

  138. the overly sweet, sweet potato (yam?) souffle with the burnt marshmallows on top that my mom makes.

  139. Do we really only have to pick one?? If I have to pick just one I am definitely going with stuffing. I could eat that for dayyyyyys.

  142. Looking forward to mashing potatoes with my kids. Yes, the simplest T-day chore, but we do it together which makes it a much-looked-forward activity...

  143. Looking forward to drinking wine with the family, then eating mashed potatoes, roasted brussel sprouts, and Tofurkey!!! This will be my seventh year eating Tofurkey on thanksgiving:)

  146. A Tofurky roast, homemade mashed potatos like my late grandma used to make but with mushroom gravy, green bean casserole, and homemade stuffing using vegetable broth. I love making tofurky roast/mashed potato/stuffing/mushroom gravy sandwiches with the leftovers. I've never made a tofurky potpie before, perhaps this can be a new tradition!

  147. Vegan pumpkin pie and soy ice cream with coffee after a Tofurky feast!

  148. i think we'll be starting a new tradition this year since we recently moved into our house. my kids are now 17 months and 3 years old, so they are all about the food this year (and not just the visiting with family part). i'm hoping that since we are hosting, we'll be able to cut the family's feast down to 25% omni, 75% vegan. (hey, you have to start somewhere) i want my kids to grow up being thankful for animals, but not as a source of food.

and my personal favorite tradition of the past is taste testing vegan gravy by the spoonful(s) every time i walk through the kitchen. :)

  149. I'm most looking forward to my Veganized version of my grandma's famous Mac-n-cheese. However, I feel that Lady Amarlesana deserves to win the Tofurky Feast as I've already won one. As someone who just got laid off in August, I know how it is. Please give the Tofurky feast to Lady Amarlesana. Happy Thanksgiving to all!! :)

  150. The thing I am most looking forward to making this Thanksgiving is my mom's Sweet Potato Pie with Sweet and Sara Marshmellows on top. This will be the third Thanksgiving without my mom. Making her pie makes us feel like she is still with us. She was also Vegeterian.

  151. The thing I am most looking forward to making is my mom's sweet potato pie with sweet and sara mini marshmellows melted on top. My mom passed on three years ago so making her pie helps us feel close to her on the holidays. She was also vegetarian.

  153. Is going to be way honest and it is not my intention to sound dreary. I don't have a really close family and often because I am single find myself having nowhere to go for the holidays. I am also veg.I feel excluded sometimes because I am not invited anywhere and also do not eat meat.I see people posting on their Facebook after the holiday the ones who are carnivores and I think about how all they did was gluttonously stuff their face with turkeys who did not deserve to die for their consumerist excess.I really do sit at home with nowhere to go and it is sad yet also a little less strained than the people who have "obligations" that time of year but it is also a little pathetic .. I am not a super negative person just saying if you are single and veg and your family sucks it is hard for you to feel enthusiastic about that time of year especially when you struggle a lot independently which I do. Sometimes it is kind of a sad time sometimes I am grateful. If I had plans...I would like stuffing of the veg friendly variety I just never have anywhere to go . A friend of mine who is also veg told me she makes Tofurkey for the holiday. I guess I just felt like replying . Don't know why and I am not spoiled enough to mention all these foods that are so tantalizing because I think of broke people who might appreciate food and that holidays should be about soul. Anyhow , that is my two cents I thought I would try to win if I could.

  154. I have never actually had a Tofurkey for Thanksgiving in my 17 years of veg-ness, I would be interested to try one finally :) Normally I am most looking forward to spaetzle that my uncle makes (we all fight to take home the leftovers) but sadly we will not be seeing that side of my family this year. So, I am desperately hoping that my husband's cousin (who is a professional chef!) will reprise his escarole & beans and delicious succotash from last year's Thanksgiving because they were fantastic!

  155. It may be a simple one but I loves me some cranberry sauce!! I could rub it all over my body ;P

  158. Tradition, leaving my Mum in Law's house and going home to nap in our cruelty free home. But seriously, I am bringing my awesome animal free "sausage" and mushroom stuffing & gravy. Hoping it will be a hit, because if it is not, next year we will spend the day with like minded folks at the local Vegan/Vegetarian Resource Group's potluck.
