So, I am desperately hoping that my husband's cousin (who is a professional chef!) will reprise his escarole & beans and delicious succotash from last year's Thanksgiving because they were fantastic!Christinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09510852152764576473noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2120799145024687094.post-11862990618191201032011-11-12T13:51:55.713-08:002011-11-12T13:51:55.713-08:00Is going to be way honest and it is not my intenti...Is going to be way honest and it is not my intention to sound dreary. I don't have a really close family and often because I am single find myself having nowhere to go for the holidays. I am also veg.I feel excluded sometimes because I am not invited anywhere and also do not eat meat.I see people posting on their Facebook after the holiday the ones who are carnivores and I think about how all they did was gluttonously stuff their face with turkeys who did not deserve to die for their consumerist excess.I really do sit at home with nowhere to go and it is sad yet also a little less strained than the people who have "obligations" that time of year but it is also a little pathetic .. I am not a super negative person just saying if you are single and veg and your family sucks it is hard for you to feel enthusiastic about that time of year especially when you struggle a lot independently which I do. Sometimes it is kind of a sad time sometimes I am grateful. If I had plans...I would like stuffing of the veg friendly variety I just never have anywhere to go . A friend of mine who is also veg told me she makes Tofurkey for the holiday. I guess I just felt like replying . Don't know why and I am not spoiled enough to mention all these foods that are so tantalizing because I think of broke people who might appreciate food and that holidays should be about soul. Anyhow , that is my two cents I thought I would try to win if I could.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2120799145024687094.post-87785571972687073352011-11-12T13:24:13.678-08:002011-11-12T13:24:13.678-08:00As crazy as it sounds, I am hoping someone makes v...As crazy as it sounds, I am hoping someone makes vegan mashed potatoes and gravy.Steven Garnetthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03370399585791301068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2120799145024687094.post-26319198140455412322011-11-12T00:19:34.366-08:002011-11-12T00:19:34.366-08:00The thing I am most looking forward to making is m...The thing I am most looking forward to making is my mom's sweet potato pie with sweet and sara mini marshmellows melted on top. (hey, you have to start somewhere) i want my kids to grow up being thankful for animals, but not as a source of food.

and my personal favorite tradition of the past is taste testing vegan gravy by the spoonful(s) every time i walk through the kitchen. :)maebystylehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16089564919539830635noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2120799145024687094.post-33539977590929751682011-11-11T18:21:51.044-08:002011-11-11T18:21:51.044-08:00Vegan pumpkin pie and soy ice cream with coffee af...Vegan pumpkin pie and soy ice cream with coffee after a Tofurky feast!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2120799145024687094.post-29910780167034554692011-11-11T18:01:29.065-08:002011-11-11T18:01:29.065-08:00A Tofurky roast, homemade mashed potatos like my l...A Tofurky roast, homemade mashed potatos like my late grandma used to make but with mushroom gravy, green bean casserole, and homemade stuffing using vegetable broth.
